Every plate counts. Let's see how much our school throws away.
Our school has about 515 students, and everyone has lunch at the same time. Food is sold plate by plate, but many students do not finish theirs, and the leftovers go straight into the bin. That food, the money, and the work behind it are all wasted.
We can't count all 515 students at once, so we sample: at the tray-return point we watch students in batches of about 30 and write down how many are in each group. Do 2-3 batches, then press Calculate.
Ask for a smaller portion if you are not very hungry.
Eat what is on your plate before taking more.
Put leftover food in the right bin, not the trash.
